SEND report

At Ibstock Junior School our provision map for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) is informed by the current needs of the pupils.  Every child on the Special Educational Needs register has their own targets, which form their Individualised Education Plan (IEP), and a Pupil Passport, which provides details about the child for any adult they come into contact with.

We work closely with outside agencies , who help us to ensure the additional and different needs of each child are met.  Children who require additional assistance with their learning have designated support staff to work with them in line with Education, Health and Care Plans or Support Plans.  We work closely with parents of children on the SEN register and offer alternative parent's evenings so that they can met with both their child's class teacher and the SENCo.

Furthermore we run a large number of interventions throughout the school year some of which may be of help to those with SEND. These include:

  • reading coaching
  • inference training
  • maths booster groups
  • speech and language work and social communication groups
  • handwriting support
  • writing intervention groups

Each intervention is run by a trained member of staff and is tailored to the needs of individual children.  In addition to this, some children receive additional help via pupil premium funding.

This provision is monitored by the senior leaders within school and by the SEND governor on a termly basis. Further information is available in the SEND policy which also gives greater detail of our contribution to the local offer for SEND.
