PGL Monday 6th October -Wednesday 8th October FAQs

Hello,

We held a meeting with some very excited children yesterday, who had lots of questions! As the trip draws closer, we are aware that parent’s have questions too. Hopefully, this will answer those for you.

Year 6 Team

A kit list was sent out within the PDF of information you were sent 02/09/25, a copy of the kit list is also attached here for your convenience.

The children will need to bring their own bedding (duvet and pillow or sleeping bag). Children should be able to pack/unpack this independently.

The children will need a packed lunch on Monday, this should contain no fizzy drinks or glass bottles and no nuts. This will need to be kept in your child’s rucksack as it will be eaten on arrival. If possible, please put lunch into a carrier bag, rather than a lunchbox, as this can be thrown away after. If your child receives free school meals, a packed lunch will be provided but drinks are not included.  All other meals will be provided by PGL - the children will need a refillable water bottle.

The children need to be in school for 8:40 as normal and come to the studio to be registered, they will be directed by a member of staff to leave their luggage (apart from their rucksack) along the wall of the side playground. All items should be clearly labelled.

Children should arrive dressed ready for activities, not school uniform.

No electronic devices are permitted on this trip.

They may pack some snacks for their rooms, however, it is recommended that these are limited as they can all share.

There is an opportunity to visit a gift shop, so no money is required on this trip.

If your child has medication, it needs to be labelled clearly and handed to the member of staff in charge of medication, who will be waiting outside of the studio.

The coach will not depart until after 9.30, so please say goodbye to your child on the playground. Please note, no parents can wait on the playground at normal drop off time, as we need to lock the gates to ensure the safety of all pupils.

Text messages will be sent to keep parents informed of arrival and keep you updated etc.

On Wednesday, the children will depart Newby Wiske after their final activities and lunch. The journey takes around two and a half hours and will include a toilet stop. We will aim to be back at school around 4pm, however, you will be updated via text message, as this is obviously traffic dependent.

Parents must be on site to collect their children, even if they would normally walk home alone.

Stud earrings may be worn but children may be asked to remove them for some activities. If your child is unable to remove their earrings, we suggest they bring ear tape, but please be aware that this will be at the instructors’ discretion.
